What is 5 things & who is amyk?
Hey! My name is amyk.
Just so you know a bit about me – I am a Canadian born Industrial/Toy Designer. I am lucky enough to work for Fisher Price in NYC, designing The Octonauts preschool toy line. I also love to draw, paint and go bike riding around the city. Oh, and making soup is the best of fun.
So what is this 5 Things you ask? And even – how did it get started?
Well, since you asked….when i first began working at FP, I would bring in reference images and competitive product to show my team and the other designers. This was in the hope of inspiring others & thinking of new ideas! With that in mind, I started posting interesting ‘things’ on a column near my cubical wall. And since then, it has grown into a full-on-blog. I had no idea it would go this far! But i am of course, so glad to do it.
So – once a month I choose a theme, and find 5 things to post about!
If you ever think of a theme please give me a shout! And of course, creative criticism is always appreciated.

Hey Amyk,
Plus the bottle is the same bottle he’s been selling to how many other companies. Probably a left over from a Method sketching session if any. The Bobble says that the filter lasts for life=10000 cycles. But you can get them in their website ($7)
Thanks for the post! I actually had in my hands one of this Bobble bottles. I’m pretty upset to find out that it’s a K.Rashid’s design…! I felt totally identified with the Objectified moment. I can almost assure you though, that Karim designed the bottle but not the product (not the idea), this is an important difference
